Anatomy is a pretty important thing to know about, especially when it comes to your horses legs and hooves. I have put some links on this particular page to help you figure out some of that technical terms that we speak on occasion and to show you where certain parts are located in distal limb. Enjoy going through these.

Basic Anatomy

This anatomy page has gone over the basics of the hoof and internal structures. it is a PDF file so you can download and print it if you wish.

MRI Imaging

MRI imaging or "Magnetic Resonance Imaging" is a medical imaging technique used to visualize internal structures of the body in detail. MRI provides good contrast between the different soft tissues of the body. It is basically a giant superconducting magnet that can see inside with great detail. This link provides you with an MRI scan of the equine distal limb or the front leg. You can go through the entire leg top to bottom.

Cross Section Anatomy

This link will give you an interesting perspective, a cross-section of the equine leg. It takes a bit to get used to navigating around the images but it gives you a unique view into the equine leg.
